Monday was the day before the primaries in New Hampshire. To rally voters and supporters, Bernie Sanders held an event with guest speakers including Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and other politically involved democrats who spoke for Sanders. Sanders also had a special performance by the Strokes at the end of the event that drew in a huge and excited crowd. This was the first time I had done concert photography and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. The different kinds of lights and use of a fog machine had very interesting effects on the photos that I took.
Staying local
Andrew yang
This week I went to see Andrew Yang talk about climate change, and what his views and ideas are about how to fix it.
gingerbread house tradition
Every year my family has a tradition of making gingerbread houses the weekend before Christmas. Everybody bring their own candy so we end up having a table full of decorations. The decorations can last at least a couple of hours and the end results are elaborate.
Tree shopping
My family has a tradition every year of getting our Christmas tree with my dad’s sister. And every year we always get a tree that ends up being too big for our living room. I wanted to photograph the process that goes in to getting our tree and how it’s not the first time that the tree got stuck in the wrapping machine.
thanksgiving
For thanksgiving this year, I went to New Jersey to spend the holiday with my family down there. When going to New Jersey, we normally just drive the six hours that it takes to get there, but this time we decided to take the more scenic route. On our way there, we took an hour long bus to Boston and from there took a three hour Downeaster ride to the subway station in Manhattan, from there we took the train to New Jersey. This Downeaster ride went along the coast so we had a view of the water for most of the ride. I took pictures with my Fujifilm XT-2 throughout the trip. On our way back we decided to take a plane from Newark to Boston which led to more photo opportunities. these pictures were all taken on a Fujifilm XT-2 with a 35mm lens.

trans siberian orchestra
Over the weekend I went to a Trans Siberian Orchestra concert with one of my friends and her family. I had never seen a show that used so many different lighting techniques to engage with the audience. The show was amazing and the way that the songs were preformed was incredibly impressive. The lights seemed to change every minute in a completely different way than before. I had never seen anything like this before and it was so impressive that I would love to go again someday.
snow day
Today we had no school due to too much snow. I took this as an opportunity to photograph the things around me being accentuated by the snow.
yorke county maker faire
This past weekend there was an even called the Yorke County Maker Faire in Biddeford Maine. My dad is an artist and he was very interested in going, so we made a day trip out of it. The maker faire was very interesting because there were lots of different types of art that I had never seen before including traditional African drumming that was being performed. most of the artwork was interactive so I had the chance to see how these different forms of art were created first hand.
vermont
This past weekend I went to Vermont with one of my friends for the weekend. We were staying right near to Mount Snow in West Dover and every morning I got to wake up and see the almost bare trees on the side of the mountain. There was no snow yet but the view was still impressive. There was a small store nearby, about 15 minutes away where we were staying. This store was located on the Hogback Mountain Scenic Overlook that had a beautiful view that seemed to go on forever. Hundreds of trees with fall colored leaves went on to the horizon line and it was a bright sunny day which made the view ten times better.
lee, nh
This weekend I brought my camera with me while I was walking my dog. The sun was setting and I ended up walking home in the dark. I tried to focus my pictures on the sky because of how dark it was getting, I tried to go with a theme of taking pictures of the treetops on my walk. These pictures may seem repetitive, but in each one I was trying a different point of view or different lighting.
Portland art walk
This past weekend, my dad and his friend had an art show at the Maine College of Art. They presented a printing press made with cinderblocks that they have been working on for weeks. This art show has been anticipated since my dad started this project and the turnout was amazing.
bernie sanders rally
Yesterday I went to a Bernie Sanders rally that was being held at UNH. I thought it would be a good opportunity to practice a new kind of photography that I don’t have much experience with. I have tried portrait photography but other than that I don’t have experience taking pictures of people, especially based at an event. I was really happy with how these pictures came out and would like to do more of this photography in the future.
NeighborHood
Last week I stayed in my neighborhood and took pictures of the pond near my house. Taking pictures of a place so close to home made me realize that I never really look around at what is near me and I focus more on where else I can go to take pictures. Even though I enjoyed taking pictures in my neighborhood I still prefer to go to places I haven’t gone before to photograph.

HedwiG and the angry inch
A few weeks ago I went to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch with a couple of friends at the sea coast rep in Portsmouth, NH. It was a midnight showing of the musical and one of the cast members was a family friend. This show was interesting in the fact that I’d never seen anything like it before, the music was very impressive and the cast did a really good job. These pictures are from before the play started because photography wasn’t allowed during the show.
Dog sittinG
This past weekend I was dog sitting, so I thought it would be a good idea to use Lucas (the dog) as a subject for photography. Lucas was very easy to take pictures of because he was so interested in the camera and didn’t take his eyes off of it. Pet photography is always interesting because every animal is different and that is one of the reasons why I like it so much.
Jenness beach
The other day I went to Jenness Beach with my friend for the last hot day of summer. I’ve never photographed the beach while it was full of people, so this was a new experience for me and I really enjoyed it. It made me notice my surroundings more than I have before and I think that I got some interesting shots from it.
Lexies Landing
My friend and I went to get lunch at Lexie’s Landing the other day. Lexie’s Landing is a restaurant that is located at a marina in Newington, NH. I thought it would be a good idea to take pictures because of how beautiful the water is, and I’m always up for taking pictures of boats.
